Diamond Family Farm

We are a 16 acre farm in La Grange, Kentucky.  We bought our land with the purpose of being self-sufficient and enjoying some of our outdoor hobbies.  We pride ourselves on being grass fed and pasture raised.  Our animals are not given hormones, steroids or preventative antibiotics.  Our pastures are grown without pesticides and we use tight rotation to provide healthy grass to our animals. We currently run our farm without the use of expensive equipment or chute systems. We raise lamb, beef, turkey and chicken.

Educational Homesteading Tour

Our tour is of special interest for those who need more information on how to do homesteading on a small amount of land. The homesteading process is very rewarding and a cornerstone of self-sufficiency. You will learn on our tour the basics of raising grass fed animals, fodder feeding (indoor hydroponic sprouts), family cow maintenance and milking, raising chickens for meat and eggs, and an intro to the care of sheep.

Emily Diamond – owner/operator has a BS in Animal Science Veterinary Technology and has been nationally certified with many years of veterinary experience and animal husbandry. She can answer questions regarding health care, land management and various methods of animal maintenance.

Our tours are by appointment only. Our tour price is $5-7 per person.  We can accommodate parties up to 15 people.  This is a walking tour and appropriate shoes are recommended.  Please call 502-558-1413.  We are Kentucky Proud and are selling CSA meat shares for the 2014 year.  Please see our website for more details. www.kygrassfed.com

Tours by Appointment Only. All ages are welcome. Cost: $5-$10 per person depending on the season.

We are a small working farm, with diverse agriculture. We raise St. Croix Hair Sheep for breeding and food. St. Croix sheep are from the Virgin Islands and are one of the few parasite resistant breeds in the US. Our flock is pure bred and registered. We also raise Shiitake mushrooms on oak logs, in addition to wine cap and oyster mushrooms. During a tour in the spring, one might observe births and bottle feed a baby lamb. In harvest season, visitors can help with harvesting garlic, mushrooms and vegetables. We also own a special donkey, Churchill, who loves visitors of all ages. He spent his early days in a petting zoo, now he is a guard animal for our sheep.
